San Francisco Pt. 1: Renegade

Hello everyone & happy new year!!

The next few blogs I write are going to be all about my trip to San Francisco last month! I had the BEST time and Renegade was a total blast. I wish I could do it every weekend... Or every other weekend so that I had extra time to heal my tired feet and body! Ha...

As I mentioned before, my best friend Bruklyn and I split a full booth. We both wanted a super open space that went really well together and felt very inviting. I feel that we really came together and made this space represent our artwork and ourselves so well! The two of us are very much alike so our collaborations always seem to work together very harmoniously. (:

It was honestly so much fun. I was able to do a little walk around the second day and look at all the incredible and talented artists! There were a number of booths that had been there last year along with a slew of new faces! I can't wait for my next renegade experience. Bruklyn and I are both thinking of possibly doing the summer renegade, how fun would that be?!

Renegade update!

It's that time again!

As I mentioned before, Bruklyn and I will be vendors at the San Fransisco Renegade Holiday Craft fair this December! I am beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to do it again. I wanted to write this post to share a little information about our creations, where we'll be and a few other things!

First off... Here's a map of the building. We are Booth #85

We will be on the higher level towards the middle up against the railing.

Some information on my work:
I started making feather hairpieces back in 2008 and within the year I began to make other accessories which led to opening an Etsy shop. Since then my love for birds and feathers has grown so much. I have an assortment of naturally molted (cruelty free) feathers that I get from an aviary in Southern Oregon. I have many rare feathers which I arrange in a way that's appealing to myself and my customers. Each earring is one of a kind! I've never made duplicates to any pair which keeps me busy thinking of new, exciting ideas!

Fox & Burrow

Some information on Bruklyn's work:
Bruklyn's new jewelry line, Fox & Burrow has an amazing art nouveau look with a twist of Southwestern vibes. All of her work is put together using geometric shapes with hand cut, recycled leather as well as vintage and handmade gold charms. She uses a subtle yet dramatic approach to her jewelry which makes these raw, organic designs the perfect addition to any wardrobe. Aren't you absolutely mad over these?! I know I am!

And finally… If you're in the San Fransisco area on the 17th and 18th PLEASE COME SEE US! I want to meet as many people as possible while I'm there! Bruklyn and I come from a very small town so it's very exciting for us to meet blog readers/writers as well as fellow crafters. Corn maze pt. 2

The day before Halloween Bruklyn and I went back to the corn maze together and shot a few more photos. This time there were actually events going on such as a giant pumpkin catapult, zip lining and other fun things like that. It was pretty interesting to say the least.

This Autumn I have been trying to mix more colors into my wardrobe. Last year around this time I was going through quite the black spell which lasted through winter and onward. I decided that it is in my best interest to limit the amount of black I wear this season and next. Although black is one of my all time favorite colors to wear, I think that I'll be able to mix it up a bit instead of my go to black head to toe look. We'll see how it goes!

I find that I am a lot better at mixing prints rather than mixing colors, if that makes sense? I pretty much love finding everything floral & lace in my closest and mixing them all together to create an outfit. Sometimes it doesn't go as well as others but I still can't help but try!

Corn maze

These photos are from a fun little day trip my mother and I took to a local corn maze a couple weeks ago. It was so much fun! We pretty much showed up (unknowingly) when the corn maze wasn't open but we were able to go in anyway which gave us the perfect opportunity to snap a few photos.

The setting was absolutely perfect to display one of my favorite new purchases which happens to be this beautiful vintage Turkish bag I bought off of ebay a few weeks ago. I am in LOVE. I've been on a mission to find one for quite sometime and when I saw this bag on my computer screen I almost died. Isn't it amazing?

Anyway, other then fall festivities I have been SO busy. My best girl Bruklyn & I were accepted into the Renegade Holiday Craft Fair coming up in December in San Fransisco. I am beyond excited! I have been crafting everyday to prepare for the fair. I was in the fair last year and basically nailed myself to my crafting table for 4 months straight. I'm planning on bringing 100 pairs of one of a kind feather earrings as well as some other goodies I have in store! Bruklyn has also been making beautiful pieces as well. They look art deco with somewhat of an Aztec vibe, I'm mad over them! SO great.

As the days draw closer to the fair I'm hoping to give you all a peek of what we've been making. I'd also REALLY like to plan some sort of San Fransisco blogger get together, maybe even a Holiday party?! I'd really love to meet some of my favorite Northern California bloggers as well as readers! I think that would be so much fun, right?

Once upon a time

Hello my pretties! I can't believe how long it's been since I've blogged. Life is officially crazy right now. I've been sick for about a month and on top of that I've been crafting up a storm (well, besides the last couple weeks due to my sickness *cough*)

~Anyway, these photos were actually from a little while ago... Sometime right before my birthday last month. Bruklyn, Jenny and I all went to Ashland and had ourselves a ball! I had to go to the aviary to get some feathers, Bruklyn needed to go by the bead store & Jenny wanted to take us to the rock gym (it was amazing to watch her, she's so great at it!)

We started out by fueling ourselves with caffeine. As you can tell by these before and after photos it was VERY well needed.

Huge difference, right?! Yeah, it's pretty (hardly) crazy. After that we headed to the bead store and purchased a dozen(+) gold triangles for Bruklyns beautiful new jewelry line, it's incredible! I can't wait to show all of you.

and to the aviary we went... These last photos we taken on our way out. Such a pretty background, right? Next time I'll have to snap a few photos of all the birds running/flying around everywhere.

I do this thing with my hand all the time when my hair is down. I think at the time this photo was taken I was trying to grab my imaginary hair HOWEVER, it's obviously all thrown on top of my head.

Hottest Month

Hello everyone! So, September is quite the crazy month. First off, southern Oregon always has the worst HOT weather, it's actually been a pretty mild summer up until this month. Another thing September brings is fall which falls on the 23rd of this month which is ALSO my birthday! I'll be 23 and pretty excited about it. I've always been pretty indifferent about my birthday however, this year is my golden year. 23 on the 23rd, how can I be indifferent about that?!

I've been doing a lot of online window shopping lately and decided I had to have this dress. It's absolutely amazing. The yellow gingham with orange flowers throughout had me pretty smitten as soon as I saw it. 1950's dresses are one of my definite weaknesses.

Along with the crazy weather, birthday excitement, online window shopping and pretty 1950's dresses, September has been taken over by caterpillars. Every tree is FULL of thickly woven nests that the caterpillars have tediously crafted. It's a nightmare! It actually made the front page of the news here in my town. Have any of you experienced this in your town? I've never remembered it being this out of control.

Anyway, I have a few exciting things planned for my blog in the upcoming weeks! Some news in store and possibly a giveaway or two. I hope you're all having a lovely September.

Flowers

Today was SO great, I had to share these photos with you all as soon as I uploaded them. Bruklyn, my mother and I all took a drive out of town to do some thrifting and flower picking, two of my FAVORITE things ever. On our way out to thrift we stopped by a giant yard/estate sale and found arms full of lovely items. I'll be adding them throughout the next week.

It's such an amazing feeling walking through fields of beautiful flowers, basket and gardening scissors in hand. That whole basket of flowers was $2!!! Isn't that just nuts? I want to make a weekly drive out there just to pick more flowers.

The weather was absolutely perfect. It was such a charming day full of long talks about our first vintage finds ever, loading up on clothing and eating icecream sandwiches at the bank.

Hello everyone! I am so happy to be back and blogging. I have been SO busy this month, the time has just flown by.
These photos were from a couple weeks ago after my lovely Aunt left back to California. Christian and I took a drive out to Jacksonville and stopped by an amazing historic grave sight. I wasn't intending to make these photos "creepy" or disrespectful so I hope they don't come across that way!

I recently purchased this dress from a shop on etsy. I absolutely LOVE it. The colors of the dress and the leaves went perfectly together, completely unintentional as well, obviously. These photos made me very excited for autumn. I can't believe it's coming so quickly.

A few weeks ago Bruklyn, my mother & myself went to an estate sale about 40 minutes out of town, the place was absolutely gorgeous! I couldn't believe how amazing the house was. Windows in every corner, a creek wrapping around the landscape and castle-like doors. It was amazing. We found really great vintage from the 60's which included lovely dresses, sweaters and coats. I wish I would have gotten photos of the actual house however, just around the corner was Southern Oregon's 'one and only' ghost town. How could we not stop by and snap a few photos there?

The "town" was literally 2 small buildings with a barn type workshop off to the side. I haven't the faintest clue why this place became a ghost town! It seems like a pretty hoppin' area. (;

Lady Date

This last Saturday I spent quality time with my best lady friend, Bruklyn. The first part of the day was spent In Jacksonville looking at all of the cute little shops. After almost suffering from a heat stroke we decided it would be best to cool down and get some gelato. We drove over to another town in Southern Oregon to get a fixing of delicious, frozen goodness!

After getting our gelato fix we drove up town to look for a place to take outfit photos. There is a really pretty white house that is part of the local university that was the perfect spot.

Somehow I managed to pair one of my favorite 1940's blouses with this not-at-all related skirt and make it come together without looking like a complete mess. I actually like the outcome of the two pieces together! One of my favorite things to do in my wardrobe is mixing eras of clothing and trying to harmoniously make them work.

Once the photos were finished we decided that going out for drinks would be the best way to complete our lady date. We headed to one of our favorite bars in Ashland and ate potato and leek soup along with a healthy stack of french fries. I ordered my favorite, gin and tonic and Bruklyn danced on the wild side with her coconut rum and coke. Pretty much the perfect lady date, wouldn't you say? If only the dart boards weren't all taken up! Ugh. Boys always ruining all of the fun.

Summer rain

The weather in southern Oregon has been absolutely nuts. Today was the first day the rain decided to stop and let the sun do it's work! However, I don't miss the 100 degree weather from last year, ick!

in an attempt to soak up the sun, Christian and I took a drive a little ways out of town and found ourselves stopping at a restaurant called Summer Jo's. They feature all organic and locally grown produce. It's absolutely beautiful there! The restaurant was closed so we were able to stop and take a peek.

I was so excited to wear one of my "new" favorite thrifted dresses for the first time. It's the perfect shade of yellow with darling embroidered flowers throughout. If the weather is willing I'll be sporting this number all summer! Next step: wear this dress without a sweater. Ha.

4th of July

So, the 4th came a little late this year! (well, to my blog, Ha..) I actually really enjoyed myself. I spent the majority of the day with my best girl, Bruklyn.

We started our day off by visiting an orchard to snap a few photos of our outfits, they turned out soo nicely (well, the ones of bruk at least!) I was becoming very over heated so we made our way to the park to lay in the cool grass. Once I was over my heated, sun drunkenness We took a few photos in the grass.

I was trying to express how the sun was making me feel, it was SOOO hott! Ha.. I think this photo definitely explains it.

After spending time at the park we met up with Christian, grabbed a coffee and headed to visit our friends in another town. I love surrounding myself with people I love! We filled ourselves with conversation, carrots and hummus and then headed back to another park. I had originally planned on driving home and watching the fireworks with my family however it was already getting pretty late so Christian and I drove to a spot that was in perfect view of the show!

The fireworks sure did finish our night with a BANG! (; Ha, after all of the festivities we headed home. It was a great day spent with wonderful people!

Lilac + Coral

Bailey has been coming along on many photo shoots lately. She has been managing to make her way outside and sneak into the car. While my mother was taking some photos of me she jumped onto my lap to join in on the fun. She is definitely NOT camera shy.

I absolutely love my new vintage Ralph Lauren umbrella. Isn't it cute? My mother purchased it at a yard sale.

One of my favorite color combination's as of late is lilac and coral. They are such striking colors and go perfectly together! Purple is one of my favorite colors and just so happens to be one of the best looking colors with my skin tone. I found this dress at Salvation Army and fell in love with how it looked. A friend of mine showed me this beautiful coral lipstick and I just had to have it. I put this look together before buying the dress based on the color combination. I really love how the finished product came together. Perfect for this warmer weather, right?

Tick Talk

I've been dying to tell you this story all weekend. Last week my best guy friend Christian and I went to the park to take some outfit photos. On the way there I saw this barn (of course) that looked really pretty! We decided that on our way back we'd stop by to take a few more photos before heading out.

Anyway, after leaving the park we drove to the barn and walked over to start taking photos. The angle was sort of strange so I asked Christian if he could crouch down for a better view. The area he was in was full of tall dry grass. However, a lot of areas around here are surrounded by that kind of grass and we've never had this problem.....

After getting some photos Christian and I walked back to his car to drive to our friend's house to play a board game. As soon as he sat down he jumped out SOOO quickly! He was covered I mean... COVERED in ticks. They were on his shirt, pants, zipper, shoes, back, everywhere! (luckily they weren't attached, EW) We both started doing a dance around the car looking for ticks and cringing at the fact they were crawling all over him. ICK, ICK, ICK!!

The funny thing is that the area we were in was a complete bust in terms of photos. The lighting was wrong, angle was off and it was next to the freeway which made it pretty impossible to avoid cars in the background. Ha, I guess for every "good" photo shoot there is at least 10 bad ones!

We ended up driving home instead of going to our friends. I only found 1 tick on me and it just so happened to be on my sock. Christian found at least 4 more crawling on him once we got back home. Ugh, it was awful but a lot more humorous looking back at it!

Secret Garden

Just last week my mother and I took a drive to a wonderful church out in Ruch, Oregon. Their outdoor amphitheater is GORGEOUS. No one was there so it was the perfect spot to snap some outfit photos.
It reminds me of the Secret Garden which happens to be one of my all time favorite movies.

It's amazing how close to God you can feel when you're surrounded by so much beauty along with being at a church. It was so peaceful! The lighting was incredible. My mom and I sang some songs together and really enjoyed our time.

Yesterday was amazing! So busy and so full of special moments. I spent the day with one of my very best friends, Christian. First we drove to this AMAZING estate sale. They had the most beautiful, antique items ever. I was thrilled!! Anyway, I had an absolute vintage heart attack when I walked in and saw the most BEAUTIFUL antique wedding dress ever... oh. my. gosh.

wish I could have gotten a better photo of it.. It was truly breath taking and in perfect condition.. I may go back this weekend and see if it's still there and shoot an offer, who knows! This dress will haunt my dreams until it's mine, I'm sure.

Anyway, after the estate sale, Christian and I went thrifting, I found some pretty nice items. I can't wait to really start taking photos and adding all of my new merchandise! After shopping, eating sushi, getting coffee and buying these adorable new socks, Christian and I stopped by this barn to take some outfit photos. He did such an amazing job! Can you tell barns are becoming my favorite places to take photos at? ha.

I really loved how these turned out! The sky is so blue and it goes perfectly with my favorite 1950's dress. I got this dress sometime last summer and I instantly fell in love! It's pure perfection.

I'm so blessed to be surrounded by so many beautiful places. It makes photoshoots that much more exciting and fun.

I'm also blessed to have such amazing friends and family who don't mind taking photos of me, ha... They are all so wonderful!

Yesterday my sweet Bruklyn Belle and I went out to take photos. It was the perfect opportunity to wear this "new" thrifted blouse I got the other week at goodwill. It's so pretty! I have been on quite the sheer kick lately. Everything I end up purchasing and keeping for myself has pretty, sheer fabric. I thought I would try this underwear/outerwear look. I'm a verrrryyy modest girl, but I love challenging myself and doing things I wouldn't normally do with my wardrobe so I figured this look would be perfect.

I paired this blouse with one of my favorite skirts, I loved how it turned out! I also brought along this amazing, ultra chic, custom made vintage blazer that I purchased sometime in the beginning of last year. It was made for a woman in the 1960's. I love hearing back stories when I purchase items!

One of my favorite things in fashion is mixing textures/styles. I love to pair really feminine garments with edgy bits here and there. Mixtures of hard and soft can be so complimentary! I challenge you all to try this out. Trust me, you'll have fun.

Hair Tutorial: Rag Tie Curls

Hello everyone! I wanted to share this video tutorial I made the other day on how to get curls like the ones I have in my previous post! A few side notes before watching...
1. ignore my pauses in between sentences.. I'm still getting used to recording on my computer while trying to act like I'm actually talking to someone and not just staring at my computer screen! Ha..
2. the brush I used is DISGUSTING. hahaha, I laughed SO hard while editing the video... I couldn't find either of my other brushes so I went with the grosses thing ever, hahaha... But, I'm human, right? (;

what you'll need:
1. approximately 10 - 12 13x2 inch strips of towel. (old t-shirts or other pieces of fabric will work as well.)
2. Aussie Aussome Volume Spray Gel.
3. brush.
4. hair spray if needed.

steps:
1. Start out with clean, dry, brushed hair
2. apply Aussie Aussome Volume Spray Gel or any other spray to make hair slightly damp.
3. take a small section of your hair and wrap the ends around, continue as far up as you'd like the curls to go.
4. tie.
5. repeat.
6. sleep on your wrapped hair or keep rags/material in for a few hours.
7. untie and unravel.
8. brush, brush, brush! It's best to brush your hair up against your hand to eliminate from frizzyness.
9. grab small sections of your hair and twirl!
10. this one if up to you... I didn't use any sort of hairspray on my hair, however... if you'd like the curls to hold longer I'd suggest spraying it.

This lovely trick has been passed down my family for many years! It's a great way to avoid applying unnecessary heat to your lovely locks. I hope this tutorial helps you all to achieve beautiful, bouncy curls!!

Swiss Dot

Yesterday was SO great! Originally Bruklyn and I had plans to spend the weekend in Portland however our plans quickly shifted as the time approached. SO, to make up for our tragic change of plans Bruklyn and I brain stormed and came up with something fun! We decided to drive back to that barn from my previous blog post and take some outfit photos. On our way there we saw this adorable house and just HAD to stop and snap some pictures.

After our stop we continued on our drive to the barn. The last time I went I was with my mother and we only spent time outside of the gates. This time with Bruklyn we decided to park and really look around at our surroundings. I am so glad we did, there are so many pretty areas! I wish I could show you all how truly beautiful it is.

There had been an event happening earlier on before we got there so a bunch of chairs were set up in front of this beautiful white house. I loved how these photos turned out. One of my favorite set ups that wasn't intended at all.

Take a hike!

Now, before you all tell me how crazy I am for hiking in heels... Hear me out! I was not intending to go hiking that day, it sort of just happened. Plus, my shoes are rather comfortable so I didn't really mind, ha.

My mother, Bailey and I traveled out of town to do a bit of thrifting and I originally had the idea of doing a post based on this outfit with two different pairs of shoes. Sort of like a "which would you prefer" blog post. However the weather did not cooperate so I ended up hiking a trail down a mountain overlooking the prettiest river. Wish I could have gotten more photos!

The sun did decide to come out for a little while so I fully took the opportunity to take some photos without my sweater on to show you all one of the dresses I purchased on my thrifting adventure the other day. It's my absolute favorite! It's so pretty and so sheer. I have the loveliest black lacy slip that looks so nice underneath. I'm still deciding if I should keep this for myself or add it to my shop.

Once the sun fully comes out in Southern Oregon I'll be sure to blog better photos of this dress showing how pretty it actually is. I promise!!

Countryside

Yesterday was truly an eventful one. It started with my mother and I driving out of town to do some thrifting. I found SOOO many amazing items including the prettiest 19(30's?) peasant blouse. I am beyond excited to show you all! Anyway, after hours of thrifting we headed out and took the back roads to the amazing country side of Jacksonville.

there is this beautiful farm that I always admire whenever I take the back roads home. It's so dreamy and looks like it should belong in a movie. I wish I was able to take photos in other areas of the farm, I'm planning on going back and capturing more moments there!

After taking some photos we were quite hungry so we decided to go out to my favorite sushi restaurant. Japanese is my absolute favorite food!! Once dinner was finished Bruklyn gave me a call and asked if I would like to go to one of our good friends birthday party! It was a lot of fun. Makes me so excited for up and coming summer parties!! So far I'm hearing of a lot of bonfires, music events, Portland trips, pot lucks and a super exciting masquerade!! Bruklyn informed me about it last night... So far I'm thinking it may possibly be the best party I'll ever go to!!

Changes

In high school I used to go to this trail with my friends. I remember when it was snowing my friends and I went there and rolled around. It's so fun looking back at photos from that time, it seems like yesterday! Sometime I'll have to dig them up and show you all.

Back in the day there was this awesome tree house at the top of the hill, it was so neat! Unfortunately it's fallen apart since then... It's so sad to go back and see all of the changes. They even made a parking lot and a public restroom for it! Everyone used to just park on the side of the road, it was pretty weird seeing all the marked parking spots and how many cars filling up the lot. Anyway, on to some more outfit pictures,

Hello everyone! After a long week & weekend I'm back to catch up on some lost blogging time. The past week I was a part of Bruklyns megatour with a couple girls, it was a lot of fun! First time ever playing outside of a coffee shop and actually in a BAR! ha. She did wonderfully!

After the shows, Christian and I went out to meet with our friends Teagan and Melinda who were traveling from LA to Portland. We went out for sushi the first night and picked them up the second day to go to Ashland and look at all the pretty shops

taken in the Papaya shop in Ashland, isn't it pretty?!

After visiting with friends, Sunday came which was yet again another busy day! Christian and I headed into town for an antique show which was happening outside. It was SO rainy. We decided to take our antiquing inside where it was much warmer.

I found this coat a few weeks ago at a local antique mall and I can't get it out of my mind! it's so cute. I just HAD to get a photo wearing it.

After all these events, Monday came. I woke up very early to go to the Airport, did some thrifting on the drive home, came home which led to going out again for more thrifting, post office stops, video rental returns and last but not least a trip with my mom to a beautiful plant nursery.

It was POURING. We could only snap a few photos. I'm really looking forward to going back on a sunny day and taking advantage of this beautiful spot. So many unique flowers and plants everywhere! I really enjoyed my time there even though the rain tried to put a damper on everything. (;

OH and one more thing... In the middle of all these events I received the sweetest package from Taylor!! I just about squealed, it was so thoughtfully packaged. She is a very creative young lady, I can't wait to send her something! I've got ideas. (;

Anyway!! Sorry this post was SOOO long... I didn't know exactly what I was going to write since I had so many things to tell you all. I guess one big post will have to do it!

Oh, spring: An Outfit Post

Spring weather in Oregon is so indecisive. It doesn't know whether to be sunny, cold, windy, rainy... It's all over the place! I've been trying to soak up the sun while it lasts and spend as much time outside as possible. These photos were from a couple days ago when the weather was just that, sunny. YAY!

I brought my Canon AE-1 and the T2i to the park and took some photos with Christian. Along the way my film cameras battery suddenly decided to die. Or... at least I'm hoping that's the case! I thought it would be a fun idea to send my new penpal, Taylor photos from my AE-1 since we both have the same film camera! Hopefully I can fix the problem and send the photos to her sooner than later. I've had my AE-1 for a long time now and it quickly became my favorite camera. I love film and how it captures moments. It's not like digital where you have an abundant amount of tries to capture something amazing. Film is so risking and exciting! You really have to give it thought, or... at least I feel as if I do. Ha.

Bailey

The other day I took my pup, Bailey to the park! I've had Bailey since she was born about 10 years ago. One of the best moments of my life was witnessing her birth and picking her out of the litter as MY puppy. Ever since that day we've been the best of friends, I love her! I truly believe the bond between a human and an animal can be just as strong as any other relationship.

Many times I feel as though Bailey knows me better than a lot of my friends! She always seems to know when I'm sad or if I'm not feeling well... She'll be extra sweet and close whenever I'm not feeling my best, it's so cute.

I have another pup named Penelope. Those of you who have been following my blog for a while may remember this post. My mother rescued a chihuahua who gave birth to puppies. I fell in LOVE with one of the pups and ended up keeping her for myself. Bailey and Penny are very different but have some of the same habits, it's pretty cute. What about you? Do you have any animals? I'd love to hear about them!

Anyway, I don't want to sound too much like a crazy animal lover (even though I am........) Here are some photos from my outfit that day!

Yesterday was the first day in 5 days that I even got dressed! Ha.

little house on the prairie

Yesterday was one of the most wackiest days. I went out with my mom to take some photos at one of my favorite places. Even though we were both terribly sick we, for some reason thought it was perfectly fine to spend the day outdoors.
This little house is so darling and has so much charm. There are two separate barns, a brick well that looks like a tower?? and a whole lot of beautiful miscellaneous settings.

I know you probably can't tell but I went ahead and trimmed my bangs. It's such a task growing them out when they are as thick as mine along with trying to tame my ridiculous cowlick! I also have an awful habit of cutting my hair on bad hair days. Even if I haven't had a bad hair day in weeks I'll still end up changing my hair somehow.

I'm so lucky to have a mother who likes taking photos for me! About a year and a half ago my mother didn't even know how to use a digital camera, she also was really (sorry mom) AWFUL at taking photos... I'm so thankful her photography skills are the way they are now! Plus, we work really well together and bonce ideas off of each other, we're a great pair. <3

After spending the day with my mom I went over to the studio to meet up with Bruklyn for an evening of music practice. We are both terribly sick and congested so it was probably one of our worse ideas.. We both pretty much lost our voices and I ended up in the hospital throwing up and finding out I have strep throat! What a day right?
I'm feeling MUCH better today... pretty weak but a lot better than last night.

When I grow up, I want to live in the 60's

The 1960's have been on my mind sooo much lately. I've been teasing my hair, wearing bubble gum pink lipstick, winged eye liner and dresses that make you want to dance the night away!

I often find myself waking up in the morning (or afternoon! (;), feeling as if I'm from a different time, this can't possibly be 2011! My whole closet and room is filled to the brim with clothing older than myself and my mother!

This past year I have found it almost impossible to go to a shop/store and buy something new off the rack... I feel guilty! What it really comes down to is the fact that I simply enjoy vintage fashion and can't justify spending the money on a new article of clothing that I may not like in a month... I guess what may be old to someone else is completely new and refreshing to me! I absolutely adore my vintage wardrobe. <3

A day at the park

The other day my mom and I took a walk at the park. The weather was so beautiful! I was feeling rather "chic" that day with my velvet and faux fur blazer, maxi skirt and lace up booties... Not necessarily "park appropriated" but I rarely ever dress down for anything.

there was a cute little bridge over a small pond where ducks were swimming, it was adorable! I tried to get some photos with them in the background however, they all flew away when I came too close.

What I wore:
velvet & faux fur blazer, vintage shop.
maxi skirt, thrifted, salvation army.
lace cardigan, thrifted, goodwill.
booties, thrifted, goodwill.

Achieve this look by pairing a sheer black or grey maxi skirt with a delicate lace top and blazer, add a plum or bright lip with light metallic shadows to make this look Spring friendly. Throw on a pair of booties or rock this look with wedges!
If you're anything like me when it comes to fashion you'll know that black can be worn year around as long as it's paired with the right accessories! I made sure to wear spring friendly makeup and jewelry to keep this look chic and flirty.

I'm looking forward to spending many more days at the park this spring and summer!

Record, an outfit post

Today while at the studio taking photos of etsy listings, I decided to add in an outfit shoot. Instead of going outside I thought it would be much prettier to take photos on bruklyns newly relocated record console! I think the lighting was SO beautiful.

Right now they are at the length where either I part them down the middle and sweep them to the side or I cut them so they don't fall into my eyes. It's such a task and completely annoying!!

So, I must ask... Cut my bangs or grow them out!? I've had bangs practically my whole life so it's a little hard for me to go against what I'm so accustomed to...

Stripes and Flowers

It's one of the greatest feelings to reach into your closet and pull out a dress you wore in Highschool and still feel satisfied with your purchase! This is one of those dresses I've had since my Sophomore year!

Bruklyn and I have been spending a lot of time outside in the nice weather looking for pretty places to soak up the sun and snap photos. Yesterday we found ourselves in Ashland enjoying a delicious late lunch, long drives and an icecream run! The outfit was SO fitting for the occasion.

Trees

Today was another beautiful one! Slightly cooler than yesterday but very lovely. Traditionally I'll go out with my mother on days like these and we'll take photos of just about anything we think looks pretty. Today was a little different, Christian and I took a drive in search of somewhere pretty to snap photos! We ended up at this cute little camp ground next to the river.

Unfortunately the lighting wasn't the best down by the river so we snapped a few around the really tall trees surrounding us.

My blouse was a little more risque than something I'd normally wear so I was sure to bring a sweater with me just in case I got chilly/uncomfortable with the lack of fabric. I absolutely love the top, though!!

Hello April!

Happy month of April everyone! I have a feeling this month is going to be absolutely breathtaking!!

It was a beautiful sunny day, I think it hit the 70 mark! I got to wear one of my favorite 1950's dresses for the first time since I purchased it on etsy. I think it was so absolutely fitting for the mood of the day.

After taking some photos and thrifting around a bit, Christian and I went and picked up Bruklyn for a dinner and photo taking date.

We ate at a delicious burger cafe in Jacksonville called Jaspers. I had a mango veggie cheese burger, HOLY YUM!

After eating we snapped a few photos outside and somehow convinced Christian to take us to Macy's so we could try on Makeup and Perfume (naturally).

It was a pretty great day!!

On a side note...
About three or four years ago I awoke from a phone call from one of my best girl friends Jenny sobbing uncontrollably. After regaining a small ounce of composure she went on to say that she woke up in the morning and noticed my best friend Bruklyn wasn't breathing!! She then went on about how her family rushed her to the hospital and while at the Hospital she died.. By the end of the conversation I was a complete and utter mess! Crying and in disbelief that my bestfriend had just passed away.. As I was sobbing on the phone Jenny let out a giant laugh and said "APRIL FOOLS!!!" I was SOOO upset! Completely relieved but so, so, SO upset! Every year after that awful prank we discuss how terrible the "joke" was. Today Jenny called and apologized for the billionth time, I told her I was planning on writing a blog about it but decided against bringing it up again.. However, she urged me to do it. So, there you have it! Pretty terrible, right?

Antiques and buttons

Yesterday my mother and I were on a mission to find a certain button that apparently is impossible to come by.

Our first stop was the antique mall in town. They have jars and jars of buttons to look through! So many unique and pretty buttons. If only we could find the right one! UGH.

While I was looking through I found those really great vintage glasses. I am in need of a pair so badly. Maybe I'll go back and purchase those frames?

Anyway, since we were in the antique mall my mom decided to snap a few photos of my outfit.

There are so many incredible knick-knacks here and there. Even though I go pretty frequently I always find sometime new (or old?) that I want to take home.

This photo kind of gave me the creeps.. Somehow I always have several photos where I look like a complete loon. It probably had a lot to do with the fact that I couldn't find one measly button that would work!

We honestly searched high and low all day until we went to every fabric, craft and antique shop we could without success... I was completely drained after searching for a button! What are the odds?

A snow day

A few weeks ago my best girl and I found and purchased the most
darling vintage victorian sofa ever! We also had ourselves a little "snow" day.

it fits perfectly in with the studio. Exactly what we were looking for. I love it.

This season has been a very mellow one so the snow was actually rather refreshing! Plus, I miss the good ol' days where my best friends and I would get dressed up and take "winter wonderland" photos when we were in Highschool.

After having what seemed to be the perfect day, I was rushed to the hospital later on that evening! A few days later I went back to the hospital again.. then again and then I was hospitalized for nearly 3 days!! I'm still trying to catch up on the several days of life I missed out on however, I'm much better now.

This weekend I'm supposed to have another fun and eventful day with Bruklyn. Let's hope the evening ends with a good bang this time!

Last night Bruklyn and I were at the studio experiencing an evening full of giggles and "serious" video blogging. We vlogged to the MAX.

I've tried many times to video blog on my own but I always feel as if I'm forcing myself to be something or someone I'm not! I am a very non-serious person for the most part so it's always fun to add a little fun to my EvEr so growing ~FASHION~ blog.

Thrifting days

Today was quite lovely! I went thrifting and found two amazing 1950's and 70's dresses. The weather started out really sunny and later turned into SO windy, it was crazy. I spent most of my evening at the studio taking photos and listening to the wind at it's work.

Today's look was extremely comfortable and easy. Whenever I go thrifing I like keeping it simple since I normally try on charts full of clothing!

My vintage collection

A couple weeks ago my bestfriend, Bruklyn did a post on her personal vintage collection. It completely inspired me and I just had to do a post about my collection!

I have many, many pieces that I cherish SO much.. As a seller I find it incredibly difficult to let go of certain items. I hadn't felt this way about selling up until I sold one of my very favorite pieces.. I was DEVASTATED. I know that may seem a little dramatic but believe me, I was completely heart broken when it sold. I felt so awful. After that happened I was determined to form an actual collection of beautiful vintage pieces that were mine and only mine!

So, here are the first few pieces I adore:

This lovely 1920's piece came to me sometime in the beginning of last year. I found it at St. Vincent de Paul. I seriously had a complete vintage heart attack. There it was! Just right there, the very first 1920's piece I've ever had for 13 BUCKS!!!! Holy moley right? I kept gasping and holding it tight, couldn't believe my eyes. I was so happy.

This 1930's piece came from one of my favorite vintage shops here in town called "As You Like It." I absolutely love the 20's, 30's and 40's SO much.. Adrienne, (the owner) is one of my lovely friends. She has collected vintage for many, many years. I often go over there and show her my new finds and we discuss the glorious-ness of beautifully crafted clothing. This month I am helping her start an etsy where I will be selling her lovely vintage treasures. I am really looking forward to sharing the marvelous items she has.

This darling little 1920's morning shift is SO pretty. Peachy silk chiffon with little ruffles and bow detail. Surprisingly, I found this little number at Goodwill as-is. Can you believe it!? Someone was throwing this out!! When I found it I was still pretty new at dating items however, I knew it was older and I knew it was special!

The newest member to the group is this AMAZING dress. When I purchased it the seller had said it was a 20's dress however, after further inspection I have come to find out that this BEAUTIFUL dress is really a unique find! The lace dates somewhere in the early 1900's. It's so incredibly delicate and dainty, unlike anything I've ever seen or felt.. However, the beading work looks to be very 1930's - 40's. Adrienne and I came to the conclusion that this dress was a redesign of a much older dress that was later redone with bead work and velvet sequins. I honestly want to stare at it all day long, it's that good!

Cow country

A couple weeks ago my sister and I took a little drive to one of my favorite thrifting spots. On our way home we spotted a giant field full of the most darling cows!

We were there for about 45 minutes trying to get the cows to come close enough to touch!

He seriously wouldn't stop licking my hand, It was SO cute! I completely fell in love.

Jenny and I have been going on small little "adventures" once a week, I plan on sharing photos of each occasion. I can't wait to see where we go next!

My sister Jenny moved back to Oregon about a month ago after living in the beautiful state of Alaska! I am SO happy to have her back here. Anyway, a few nights ago we had a slumber party and Jenny went on and on about how she loves when my eyebrows show and how much she wanted me to cut my bangs short again. As the night went on we became more and more silly and I finally went into the bathroom and hacked about an inch off.. Well, an inch became about 3 inches after about 30 minutes of "evening" them out.

I cut my bangs myself all the time but for some reason I couldn't control myself that night! Jenny says it's something to do with the "Lunar Eclipse"

So, that's the story behind my baby bangs.. Personally I can't wait for them to grow back! I feel naked without my forehead covered.

The time has come for me to share my BIG news with everyone!

I am SO happy and thrilled to announce that my dear bestfriend Bruklyn and I have just rented a FABULOUS shop in our small town that we will be converting into a wonderful studio space for our online businesses! It's such a darling space with SO much potential!

We started the moving in process last week, soon enough our space will be full of lovely vintage clothing, long work space desks and decorated in the finest antique, vintage furniture! I can't wait to share each and every step with everyone of you! It's going to be a good year full of opportunity and room for improvement! I am SO thrilled to grow and expand my handmade and vintage shops

Look forward to many posts about this new adventure!

San Fransisco: Museum of Modern Art

Monday was supposed to be the BIG day, however.. I guess we have to wait until Wednesday evening.. ):

So, since I told everyone I would spill the news on Monday and didn't.. I decided today I will write a little more about my trip to San Fransisco!

I went to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, it was absolutely incredible. Full of inspiration.

Renegade fun!

Hello everyone! I am now back and ready to take on this delightful renegade post!! I had such a wonderful time in San Fransisco. Renegade was so exciting and SO busy! The turn out was absolutely amazing.

It was so exciting to see all of my hard work come together and experience all of the wonderful feedback!
My lovely friends Bruklyn and Christian were there to help. I am SO thankful for their help, I would have been scrambling all day long without them.
My amazing sister from Jenny Sue Hands made some lovely crocheted headwear for my booth, they were so adorable!

Quite a bundle of my fabulous customers let us take photos of them and their purchases,

The second day was just as great as the first! I couldn't believe the rain.. It was crazy! I thought the roof was going to collapse.
I couldn't believe the reaction I got from everyone with my feather creations. I brought 77 pairs of earrings and by the second day I only had 20 left!!

I met so many wonderful people including the lovely Francesca from The Snail and the Cyclops! She is such a delight. After the second day we all went out and talked about vintage, opportunities, family and much much more!

I look forward to doing many, many more Renegade Craft Fair adventures. It was an incredible experience with an incredible outcome. I couldn't have done it without my wonderful friends, I love them very much!!

Our drive home was a long yet exciting one! We stopped by bestbuy and I purchased a brand new Canon Rebel T2i!!!

It's an amazing camera with incredible photo taking and video taking abilities. I look forward to documenting this new and exciting chapter of my life.

Sufjan Stevens, The Owl And The Tanager

Been obsessing over his new CD ever since it came out, he really does out do himself every time!!

In quick Renegade Progress report news, I have currently made 47 pairs of earrings! Not the 100 I was planning on completing in 10 days, however.. I am almost half way finished with them which is relieving and ever SO exciting!

I wish I had a ton of photos to share with you all of earrings I have made, however.. this is the only photo for now:

Renegade Craft Fair!

I'm so happy to tell everyone that I have officially been accepted into The 2nd Annual Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Sale in San Francisco!!! I am absolutely overjoyed by this!
I'll be attending the fair and sharing a booth with the lovely Chelsea from Seablanket.
I have so many ideas running through my head as to what to bring, how to set up the booth (luckily I'll have my bestfriend to help me with this one) and how many items I should make! I am so nervous, excited, anxious and overwhelmed all at once.

Tonight was my first evening of making feather earrings and I was able to complete 9 pairs in 4 hours! Pretty record breaking for me, I must say. My goal is to complete 100 earrings in the next 10 days.. I know it sounds a little wacky.. However, I feel that in order to feel successful and "complete" I'll have to make and bring as many things as possible!
Along with my earrings I'll be selling plush felted owls, headpieces, recycled velvet bows, cards and much, much more!
I have only 6 weeks to complete all of this madness! I am a complete procrastinator so, I've decided that posting online "progress reports" will give me a real kick in the butt!
I'll be uploaded my progress on twitter along with hopefully blogging and letting you all know what's going on with these crafting fingers of mine.

I hope to see and meet SO many people at the fair! This is such a huge opportunity for me and my business and I'd be one happy gal to share it with each and everyone of you!

The day is over

What a colorful day I've had! Don't you just love my flowers? I woke up not so hot this morning, but everything ended up ever so lovely, I couldn't be happier with how my birthday went.

Around 3:30 I came home from a thrifting adventure to find these lovely flowers wrapped all nicely for me and an icecream cake! I am a HUGE flower fan (like any girl, right?). I get excited receiving any flower possible, especially in my favorite flower colors (deep reds/oranges & purples along with muted greens) UGH, so pretty. I am also a huge fan of anything sunflower. ha.

As the day progressed I kept hearing little humming songs from my mom and christian.. In the tune of, oh... "I know something you don't know" I had a clue that my best friend Bruklyn had something up her sleeve, I just hadn't any idea of what! Well, boy was it something!!
Around 9:20pm she shows up at my door and tells me to go out of the room.. I had no idea what was going to happen! A little time went by and she came to get me.. As I walked into the living room I saw the PERFECT gift ever!!

a large cheval mirror! I have wanted one of these things for years! They are so timeless and beautiful.. I'm going to feel like a princess every time I look in the mirror.
After being fully shocked and amazed by this, I went into the kitchen where two beautiful, floral wrapped, (of course) gifts laid on the counter. More gifts!?

First off, I opened one of our favorite vintage games ever, Pit! I absolutely love this game.. If you haven't played, I suggest you log onto etsy or ebay right now and purchase it yourself.

secondly was this book called "Flowers" I have been eying this book for a couple months now ever since I saw it. It's full of floral design, botany plates and much, much more!

This amazing gift was from both Bruklyn and Christian. They do a lot of secret planning for my birthdays.. It never fails to amaze me!

Oh, did I fail to mention that Bruklyn made me a Pumpkin Cheesecake!? Uh yeah, she seriously did.

Besides all of the birthday shenanigans, I was able to fit in a small photoshoot of some new items for the shop. Who ever said you weren't supposed to work on your birthday? (;

22 years.

It's my birthday today! So very strange to think that I am now 22 years old.. I don't even feel a day over 16.
This year has been so different from any other year of my life, I've lost a lot along with gaining some things I'll never forget.

Over the next few months I'll be preparing for Renegade! I am so completely excited and nervous about this. Even though I will be preparing stuff over the next few weeks, I wont know if I've been accepted until the 22nd of October!! I'll be so antsy until then.. Fingers crossed!
I'll be attending (hopefully) and sharing a space with the lovely, Chelsea from seablanket !
Once I find out if we're accepted or not I'll be stocking up on items to spruce my booth up. I'm really looking forward to getting ideas ready and decorating a booth around the theme of my handmade creations! I'll have help from my darling best friend, Bruklyn she has an eye for displays and comes up with the cutest most sweet designs ever! So lucky to have her by my side. (:

Anyway, I'd love to share with everyone a few things I've been working on for the craft fair!

Summers ending..

As summer comes to an end I can't help but look back at the great times I had!
It's been an awfully rough year.. I'm so thankful for all of the wonderful friends I have to pick me up while I'm down!

Anyway, while going through my computer today I stumbled upon a great photo album from a show I attended at Britt! I was looking forward to it for sooo long.
A few friends and I packed our picnic baskets and headed to Jacksonville to watch the ever so lovely Swell Season! It was such a great performance, I wish they would have played all night long!

Fall is here!

Well, not technically.. But, it's all over etsy and it's taking over clothing shops like crazy!
It seems to be coming a lot sooner this year than ever! Today was overcast and cloudy which eventually turned into wind and rain! While I was outside collecting all of my clothing from the clothesline I just stood and listened to the wind and rain while enjoying every minute of it. I hope we have many more days like this to come.

Anyway, since the day was overcast I was able to take photos of my warmer items I've been waiting so long to add to etsy! It was SO nice to finally do something in the cooler weather.

Let's fly a kite.

Yesterday Christian and I went to Toys 'R' Us and purchased two kites. Let me tell you, I was SUPER excited. I hadn't gone kite flying since I lived in Orange County and that was forever and a day ago.
Well, since there was very little wind, it was an extremely unsuccessful kite flying day.. We even did the whole run with two people and release the kite trick. That was horrible! The kite ended up flying back and hitting me straight in the face! Ha, I laughed so hard I almost cried.

I know you can't really tell by the photos, but... I had a lot of fun! I promise. I really can't wait to do it again. Hopefully we'll be able to get them up next time.

Campus kicks

Hey lovies!

The last time I blogged I told everyone about what was going on with my cat, well.. I went by the animal hospital and dropped off a flyer. I have been calling everyday in hopes that they found out who brought her in. So far they haven't, BUT, I'm going to remain hopeful and continue praying that we will be able to bring her home.

In other news.. Yesterday I sold a pair of shoes on etsy and as I was checking the mailing address I read over the first line and it said "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" which continued with "Rockefeller Plaza" I was so excited and couldn't believe my eyes!
I sent the shoes off today and included in my handwritten card

"Receive 10% off your next purchase
50% if you say something about it on late night,
Ha, just kidding"

I'm hoping they'll think it was charming and take it seriously, ha. Oh my lands, would that be great or what!?

ANYWAY, I would like to dedicate the last portion of my post to campus boots. I have a feeling this style of boot is going to be really hot this Fall and Winter. I know for sure I'll be purchasing & sporting a pair, can't wait!

Distant, distant, distant!

Hello my beautiful friends!

I have been so unbelievably busy the past couple months that it has seriously taken up all of my time! With etsy, along with puppy crazyness and my up and coming excited events.. Time seems so short!
I finally can sit down, relax and share with everyone what has been going on in my life.

Let's start out with puppy news. Just last week 3 of our darling pups went to the most wonderful people. Vixen and Kingsley went to a lovely married couple who fell in love with the both of them and Little Lila went to a woman who had fallen in love with our last Chihuahua puppy, Hamilton and has had him for the last year. Oh, and by the way.. Hamilton and Lila are half siblings!! Isn't that cute?

We still have my absolute favorite puppy, Penelope.. She's my baby..

Now, for the business side of my life. I received an unexpected phone call from a Chicago high end Boutique owner about buying and selling my handmade earrings! This is a pretty BIG deal to me. I've never done anything in terms of "wholesaling" my handmade earrings. The biggest opportunity I've had was being able to sell them last year at the Sunset Junction in LA.. After turning down many wholesaling offers I'm going to give this one a shot! My first challenge is to make 15 pairs of earrings, send them off and hope they do well. I am really nervous and excited about this opportunity! It could really expand my love for hand-making and selling something I'm so passionate for. I'll be sure to update everyone with how everything goes.

On the vintage side of my ever-so-long busyness, I've been scoring on finding the most wonderful fall and winter items ever. My favorite so far would be my ever growing collection of vintage coats. Within this week alone I have purchased 3 of the most beautiful coats I've ever seen. Hopefully I'll be able to show everyone soon! it's just so darn hot around here I find it impossible to ever take pictures of coats in the blistering heat.

Now, for my most exciting news!!!
I have been absolutely devastated by the loss of my cat.. If you follow my twitter, you know already that my beloved kitty, Olive has been missing since the 4th of July. A woman called me last week with the news of "seeing my cat" on the property of her house. I was so excited by this news that I had been driving over to the house everyday, multiple times a day calling her and leaving out food, I felt pretty hopeless after days of not seeing her.. WELL, just today I received another phone call from a vet tech telling me that a cat with the same half blue eye and colors as Olive came by the vet office a month ago. An older woman had picked her up and brought her over for an exam.. The lady then went on to tell me that she would be able to go back a month and look through their files for any female kitties with the same coloring as Olive.
I'm going by on Monday to bring a flyer, I'm really praying that they have good news for me and that I'll finally be able to bring my baby girl home. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Well, I think I've out done myself on this one so I'm only going to share one last thing..

My life as of late has been so eventful and jam packed with craziness! I haven't found the time to do any of my extra online activities excluding, etsy updates and occasional facebook scrabble games.

But, alas.. Here I am able to update my lovely blog friends on what's been happening!

I've been extremely lucky in the vintage hunt the past few weeks. I have been updating my etsy everyday religiously for the past month! I love updating and being able to share with you all everything I've found as soon as I possibly can.
Anyway, a few things I'm excited about would include the fact that I'll be adding 2 new models into the mix! I love this idea because now I'll be able to bring more petite, smaller things in. I've been using my mannequin lately to photograph smaller vintage items I have for sale but I just don't want this lovely summer weather to go to waste. I absolutely love the process of taking photos of a live person in the beautiful outdoors of Southern Oregon. My new models will be popping up in my shop over the next few weeks! Keep your eyes open for smaller, petite clothing!

In other exciting news, the puppies are cuter than ever! Growing so quickly.. They are starting to play like little rascals. I'll be uploading photos of them soon to share with each and everyone of you.

Last two days!

Only two days left on the Memorial week sale! The week seems like it's gone by so quickly.
I had to work today and it really wore me out, after work I decided to come home and "accidentally" fall asleep on the couch for 2 hours.. So, here I am now at 1:30am watching Dr. 90210, writing a blog, editing photos and adding things on etsy. Oy vey!

Yesterday was such a wonderful day for finding incredible vintage items! I added quite a few to etsy the past couple days and plan on adding more throughout the next few days.
My favorite find has got to be this adorable floral with knit sleeve dress!

PUPPY NEWS:
The pups are getting cuter and cuter everyday! Their eyes are just now starting to peak open. I'm so excited to take some more photos and show you all once their eyes are fully open. I already have a favorite.. It's terrible, I know I shouldn't pick favorites but, It's so impossible! I'm falling in love.

Hello lovelies!

I've been sitting here for the past two hours adding items on etsy and watching Dr. G: America's Most Shocking. It's all about mysterious cases on health issues. Some of these stories are completely horrifying. Why am I still watching it? I haven't a clue but it's sort of addicting!
Anyway, back to etsy updates.. I've decided to have a memorial day (week) sale! Starting Monday I will be having a sale on all of my items throughout the whole week. Along with new things added everyday! Tonight I added 4 new vintage items.
My life is going to be a lot busier from here on out with online work/handmaking. I really want to do my best to update all of you on my success with handmaking feathery goodness and the growth of our new additions!

PUPPIES!

My dog Lillian had puppies!
My family rescued her along with some other chihuahuas from a terrible puppy mill. These poor babies were bred constantly and thrown out in dirt pens.

Anyway, yesterday before work I woke up to two gorgeous little babies, seconds later Lillian gave birth to her third and then about 20 minutes after that her forth and final adorable baby pup.

They are all so cute. I can't wait until they are bigger so that I can show all of you adorable puppy pictures.

All I have right now is this awful low quality webcam photo.

Lillan is such a great mommy. Super protective and so careful. I can't wait to update you all in a couple weeks on these adorable pups progress.

Unofficial names at the moment:
girls: Vixen, Ruby Tuesday & Lila.
boy: Kingsley.

In other news, I purchased the most adorable baby blue eyelet 50's day dress the other day while in Talent, Oregon. I was super lucky in finding this one.. I almost didn't even go to the place I purchased it at! Oh, and not only that but it was shoved behind a ton of awful clothing, tucked away for me to find.
Again, I'm terribly sorry for the lack of photos. The weather has been so unpredictable and raining. Soon enough I'll have some nice photos to show all of you.

Perfect spring and summer hats

Hats have got to be one of my favorite accessories of all time. Since the weather has been unreliable and completely flip floppy I've had few chances to sport my large brimmed straw hats. I believe that every lady should have at least one of these fun summery items in their closets!
I have been compulsively purchasing large wide brimmed hats along with floppy summer hats for the past several months now, I simply cannot resist the urge.
My head feels so naked without something on top to accompany my long locks. How dare I deprive it from something so great!?

I'm sure many of you have seen my collection grow and grow as my blog posts come. And believe me, my room and closet has definitely taken a hit from this obsession.
It's just one of those things, you know?

Just when I thought things were going to settle down they get crazier and busier all at once!
I have been lacking in the creative department for a while which is terribly awful for me. Especially around this time of year. I'm supposed to come up with a ton of feather earring designs along with a few other jewelry/accessory designs for Sunset junction street fair in LA which will be happening mid to late August.
I have a few creative juices flowing and some random images of things to make in my mind, I'm just hoping I'll be able to make these ideas take place in the near future.

First off, I'm terribly sorry for the lack of updating lately.. I have been awfully busy with so many things. I promise to start being more attentive to my lovely followers.
Secondly, holy smokes! 101 followers, what a pleasant surprise!! Hello and welcome to all of my new readers. I hope I don't disappoint.

Anyway, I met up with my favorite vintage lady friend who is kind enough to call me as soon as she goes through her many lovely closets full of beautiful vintage items. Most are fabulous dresses from her long stay in England. I die of happiness almost every time I go there.
I was able to go to her house twice these past couple weeks and purchase quite a few lovely late 1950's to early 60's day dresses.
I went ahead and listed some of the ones I could part with on my etsy. I still have a few left over from the last visit. I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about them!
I can't wait to show you all.

In other news, I will be speaking with my other favorite lady friend tomorrow about a few street fairs coming up in LA. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to sell some of my handmade feather earrings there, along with a lovely boutique in downtown LA. Other than my absolute love for vintage my love for hand crafting feathery goodness makes me so giddy. Creating is definitely my first love.

I thought I'd do a post on a couple online shops and blogs that I absolutely LOVE.
I've been looking forward to doing this sort of post for a while now. I'm such a lurker of sorts when it comes to online shops, blogs, websites.. yet I rarely find the courage to blurt out my obsessions with these things without the fear of sounding like a complete cyber stalker nutcase. So, here goes nothing!

First, the lovely Bruklyn Belle. Not only is this girl my absolute best friend.. But, she's the reason I have an etsy. She is one of the most stylish people I know. Constantly in a steady pace of beautiful fashion. She mixes vintage and new items so well with her wardrobe and makes everything so effortless! Hello lovelies!
I've been looking forward to updating everyone on my new incredible 1940's-1950's vintage finds but I just haven't had the time! It was sort of great that I waited because today I hit the jackpot of all jackpots and struck gold in the world of vintage clothing.
I was so excited about it that I just had to make the post now!
Please forgive me for the lack of photo editing/lighting. My wonderful photography light bulbs were destroyed by my giant dog, Irwin. No hard feelings, Irwin.. I still love you.

A timing circumstance.

Today's post will be rather short.. I haven't been keeping up with my blog lately due to some computer problems I've been having. Hopefully within the next couple months I'll have a brand new laptop!
I'm currently using my old computer which has turned into our family computer so, it's been rather difficult finding the time to post anything new recently!
Although I've been distant from the blogging world, yesterday I was able to add several pairs of earrings to my shop.

Other then that, I purchased this great red 1970's dress about a week ago with my mother along with many other great finds which include a darling 1950's blue velvet dress. It's one of my favorite purchases I've made in a while! It's too small for me so I'll have Josephine (my dress form) wear it and take photos to show all of you!
I had to repair the zipper and I'm thinking I may have to have it dry cleaned. Golly, I'm blabbering about this dress that I can't even show any of you.. I should have waited to say anything till I had photos!

Today's post is going to be an exciting one for me! I have been waiting to share this with all of you for the past week or so. It's been driving me insane that I haven't had the time to post anything about it till now!
ANYWAY, I was approached by a lady from the amazing Austrian vintage clothing website Bows & Bandits about being featured on their "Street Style" page. Of course I said absolutely! I was so excited that they would even consider featuring me. I'm just a small town girl from Oregon. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine someone liking my style enough to post on a website!
Anyway, she messaged me about a week or so telling me that they made the post and that I made the cut!

A little about yours truly.

So, I decided to make a little post about myself.. Just a few things I felt I should share with my followers!

I'm Kala Noel. Born on September 23rd 1988.
I enjoy painting. I did a series of apple paintings for my friend Adam and his band. I have a great liking of apples and so does my friend Adam which is why their album is named "Gallery of Apples" and that is what brought on this whole idea of basically, a gallery of apples.

This first one was an original idea from one of the band members at the time. It was a digital design on the computer and I made it into a painting.

I collect many small animal figurines, primarily owls and place them all throughout my room. I'm completely inspired by nature and antiques. I think the two of them together make for a lovely little setup!

I have a terribly small room but I love it. Within the past year or so I've completely made it over. I still have a ways to go to make it a finished project, but, I'm enjoying the outcome so far.

pardon the random spot lights and lack of molding. I'm working on it! I promise. (:

I have a complete obsession with jewelry. I wear as much as I can before it gets the point of gaudy. I have so many rings and necklaces. I wear rings on practically every finger.

I am quite a random mix of nationalities! My mother is Swedish, Mexican and my father is a mix of Scottish, Swedish and Native American. Many people laugh at me when I tell them I'm quarter Mexican because I'm one of the most pale girls you'll ever meet with freckled skin and red hair in the sun.

My favorite food is sushi. I've always had this fascination with Asians. Everr since I was a little girl my favorite food was Asian, I wanted to adopt an Asian baby, my first best friend was an Asian. Everything! My friends always joke around with me and say that I'm either an Asian or an owl.. Personally, I'd love to be both! (:

And one last thing.. I live in Oregon. I moved here with my family about 9 years ago from Orange County and will never go back! (To live at least) I adore it here. It's so beautiful. It has so much to offer. I plan on eventually moving up to Portland and living a wonderful life breathing fresh air and being surrounded by beautiful people and my best friends.

Boats & Birds.

Today was great. I spent half of the day with my best friend Bruklyn belle and than the other half of the day I spent at home editing photos and adding new items onto my vintage etsy shop!
I actually did not purchase cheek gel OR a bowler hat today like I mentioned before.. However, we went by goodwill and I had a heyday there instead. I'm hoping to go back in the next few days and finally commit to buying both the hat and the cheek gel! Let's see if it actually happens?

I'm so excited I was able to add these two items onto my shop. I was looking forward to showing everyone a lot sooner but today I finally had the opportunity to take photos and post them online.

I have an abundant amount of new naturally molted feathers. I have also switched over to latch hook earrings. BUT, don't fret fellow fishhook lovers, I'm open to changing the tops on any pair of earrings.

In other news tomorrow is girl day with Bruklyn belle! We're going to medford in the afternoon so that I can finally purchase a tube of cheek gel I've been longing for! I couldn't resist.. I must have it. Plus, they have sold out of the color I want online so I'm hoping they still have it in stock! Along with my cheek gel purchase I'm hoping to find the perfect bowler hat.. I have had it on my mind for a little while now, I must obtain one!

Too much oatmeal!!

Yesterday I was posted in the etsy newsletter! It is one of the most exciting things ever. It was so great seeing how many people came to my feather shop and actually selling earrings again! I am hoping once the Spring time comes around more feathery friends will come out and want to wear the things I make on their heads and ears.

I made 5 pairs of new naturally molted feathered earrings last night and I can't wait for the sun to come out again so that I can take photographs of them and post them all online.

I don't have an outfit of the day for today.. However, yesterday I somehow managed to complete my look with way too many oatmeal/tan colors due to layering more and more items as the weather got frighteningly chilly.

Another beautiful day in southern Oregon! The sun was shining all day long and it was absolutely stunning! I spent most of the day with my friends in Ashland after making a trip to the vet this morning.
My dog Bailey managed to lick a hole in her leg where her cast is.. Ends up the poor girl has a staph infection due to all the licking she has done. Now, not only does she have a giant cast on.. She also has a huge Elizabethan collar she has to wear at all times.

In other news, today's outfit was all about shades of grey. I wear a lot of black, white and grey. I think those shades are so classic! You can never go wrong with a basic monochromatic color scheme. (:
